Santoso Terror Group Down to 40, National Police Chief Says

The membership of Indonesia's most notorious terror group currently operating, in Poso, Central Sulawesi, is dwindling, National Police chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti said on Wednesday.
"They only have 40 people now. We'll hunt them down as part of our Cameo Maleo 3 operations," Badrodin said, referring to joint operations between the National Police's anti-terror squad Densus 88 and the Indonesian Military [TNI].
A total of about 1,000 security personnel are involved in the operation.
The jihadist group shot and killed Sgt. Zainudin, a member of the TNI, a few days ago.
Santoso, a.k.a Abu Wardah, leads the Poso terror outfit. He is a former thief who wants to turn Indonesia into an Islamic state, and is Indonesia's most-wanted fugitive.
His group calls itself East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT), and has pledged loyalty to the Islamic State movement.
The group this year has reportedly been involved in a string of murders and robberies in Central Sulawesi.
